A Great Day in the Neighborhood

My roommate Lindsay and I were out and about in the freezing rain tonight for some dinner. Our first attempt was half price sushi, but once we got to the first bridge you have to cross we witnessed two wrecks so we decided sushi wasn't worth our lives. Ice plus drivers in Dallas doesn't really mix. We ended up having Pei Wei and then decided to grab some groceries since we were out. As we were walking down the bread aisle we came across the most wonderful addition to Kroger - at least the Kroger in our neighborhood.

The area I live in has always been "dry" for as long as I can remember and while I do live in Dallas county alcohol has been banned. On election day this great city finally voted Yes! to selling alcohol. Its never a ban I've understood because you can drive 10 minutes up the street to get your goods, but nevertheless it will be so nice to not have to drive out of the neighborhood to get a little vino.

HOORAY for the wine!

It's a Grizzly Bear!

I forgot about this video of Scout over Christmas and had to share it. Scout loves his pong more so when there is peanut butter in it, but also loves to play tug of war. The little pooch turns into a little growling maniac and the possibility of losing a finger is quite high. If you listen closely you can hear my Mom in the background say "sounds like a grizzly bear", which is pretty funny.

Johnny Iuzzini

I really enjoy baking and who doesn't love a good dessert!? Plus, as an avid FoodTV fan I love watching shows like Ace of Cakes that demonstrate awesome pastry skills. Due to this interest of mine I have come across a pastry chef, Johnny Iuzzini, who is starting to make quite the name for himself and just had his first cookbook come out. He is A) super cute (every now and then there's a "bad boy" look that just works) and B) an amazing pastry chef who's creations look delicious and almost too pretty to eat.

I'm going to have pastry school in my kitchen thanks to Johnny and hopefully I can keep up. If and when I make something that looks good I'll be sure to post it.

In the meantime, check out his website at www.johnnyiuzzini.com

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone and welcome to 2009! My good friend Crystal had a New Year's Eve party at her condo so we gathered together to enjoy champagne, games and good friends. It was loads of fun and needless to say I've been in recovery mode today.

I had to mark my champagne bottle
