Birthday BBQ Festivities

I share my birthday with two other very good friends so this year we decided to wrangle everyone together and have a birthday BBQ party. A few of us were off on Friday so we started the day early and enjoyed cold beverages, cooking out and a few games of bags. As the day went on more people began to arrive so in the end we had a great turn out and had lots of fun celebrating with friends and family!

I turned another year older on Friday, but took the day off of work because who needs to work on their birthday?!? So, on Thursday I had tons of meetings and lots to do plus was running late to work. Oops! I'm flying in when I get to my desk and find it all decorated for the birthday. It was such a great surprise and enjoyed them all day. My good buddy the gnome was also there to celebrate my birthday by hanging out on my desk for the day. He stared at with his Happy Birthday hat - kind of creepy actually.

Later in the afternoon I had a meeting with my boss for a new project we are working on so as I'm trying to get my things together for this a couple of co-workers came over to ask a question. I kept saying hey, can I stop by later I really have to get to a meeting. Well, the joke was certainly on me because it was a surprise gathering to enjoy a cupcake cake. By the way, the cupcake cake is my new favorite sweet treat. Mounds of icing and pull apart cupcakes - who could ask for more?

Yummy cupcake cake!

It was a great day and thank you to my wonderul co-workers for making it a special day!

Hoppy Easter Weekend in West Texas

I spent the Easter weekend in Abilene visiting my family and good friends I grew up with. I headed west on Thursday after work to see Roger Creager at the Lucky Mule. He's a great Texas country artist and there wasn't a huge crowd so we were able to get front row and mingle with the band afterwards. I was thrown a guitar pick and received a drum stick. I'm an official groupie now.

The remainder of the weekend was spent on the couch being lazy with Scout and/or eating the wonderful food that my Mom prepared. On Sunday we went to church and then had Easter lunch afterwards. We had Easter ham with all your yummy sides and one of my most favorite desserts that my Mom makes - blueberry banana pie. HEAVEN!

Working in Abilene

Since I work from home on Fridays I decided to go ahead and drive to Abilene last night since I was coming home to see my family for the Easter weekend. I have found that working from home in Abilene is very different than working at my house.

First of all, there is Scout. Since I don't have a dog I enjoy my parents' dog Scout who is such a good cuddle buddy that it's hard to resist curling up on the couch with him.

Second, I'm working in the office of my parents' house and my parents feel the need to sit in here with me and watch TV. Why they need to watch this particular TV is beyond me because it's not like there aren't 12 other in the house. I know they want to spend time together, but staring at me type isn't my idea of quality family bonding.

Third, my Mom is a wonderful cook and their pantry unlike mine is stocked full of goodness so all I want to do is graze. Please slap my hand.

Ok, now that I've taken the time to make this post it's time to go back to work.

Sunday Fun Day!

Last Sunday my friend Brittany had an extra ticket to the Mavs game so we and another good friend went to see Dirk and the boys play. While the Mavs have been playing rather sub par this season it's always fun to go and I was able to catch up with some old colleagues who were there as well.

We actually started our Sunday fun day with mimosas and a yummy lunch at Taco Diner. Then we headed to the game. I'm fairly certain the highlight of the game was not the fact that the Mavs dominated the Suns (though that was awesome and when did Shaq start playing for the Suns?), but we were treated to the dessert cart and it was heavenly.
